Job Scams on LinkedIn: Stay Vigilant!

LinkedIn has become a hotspot for job scammers. Recently, there’s been a spike in scams where fraudsters impersonate legitimate companies through LinkedIn messages. They craft fake websites that look just like real businesses and request personal information before conducting sham Zoom interviews.

Some scammers even go as far as asking for money or credit card details for bogus verification and background checks—something genuine companies would never do.

Tips to Protect Yourself:

  • Stay Skeptical: If a job offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Avoid Upfront Payments: Real companies won’t ask you for money upfront.
  • Verify Websites: Use Google reverse image search or tineye.com to check if photos are genuine. Copy text from job ads into a search engine to find duplicates.
  • Check Companies: Research the company and verify job postings on their official websites. Reach out to their HR department to confirm offers.
  • Use Whois.com: Check website ownership and how long it has been active to identify fake sites.
